Metal sealing material in high pressure oil resistant rubber seals - brass

Stepseal

The sealing materials of rubber seals are mainly divided into three categories. One category is metal materials, including aluminum, lead, antimony and stainless steel. The second is non-metal sealing materials, including rubber, plastic, porcelain, graphite, etc. The three types are composite sealing materials, including rubber-asbestos board, airgel felt-polyurethane, etc. But the most commonly used are rubber elastomer sealing materials. Today I mainly explain the basic knowledge of several most commonly used metal sealing materials.

Brass is an alloy composed of copper and zinc. Brass composed of copper and zinc is called ordinary brass. Brass is often used to make gate valves, water pipes, internal and external rubber pipes for air conditioners, and radiators.

Due to the high strength, hardness and good chemical corrosion resistance of brass, this metal sealing material can be used in the sealing manufacturing industry, and can also be directly processed into pure brass sealing copper gaskets. Its maximum temperature can reach 260°C, and it is generally used in working environments (media) such as high temperature, high pressure oil, and high pressure water vapor.
