A brief introduction to rubber O-ring seals

rubber seals

The O-shaped rubber sealing ring uses a low-friction polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) ring combined with the O-shaped rubber sealing ring to provide sufficient sealing pre-tightening force to compensate for the wear of the PTFE ring. PTFE has small friction resistance and similar dynamic and static friction resistance. Suitable for cylinder piston rod sealing in high and low speed repetitive motion and high pressure systems. Choose two step rings for sealing to achieve zero leakage.

O-type rubber seal

1. Compact structure and good sealing performance. The cross-section structure of the O-type rubber sealing ring is extremely simple, has a self-sealing function and is reliable in sealing;

2. Easy to install, because the O-type rubber sealing ring itself and the installation location are extremely simple in structure and have been standardized, so installation and replacement are easy;

3. Wide range of application. With appropriate plastic materials and proper formula design, oil, water, air, gas and various chemical media can be effectively sealed. Wide range of temperature applications (-60°C ~ pressure up to 1500kg/cm2 in fixed use (used together with reinforcing rings);

4. There are a wide variety of materials suitable for various purposes, and the sizes and trenches have been standardized.

O-type rubber sealing rings are widely used in the sealing of diesel locomotives, vehicles, tractors, engineering machinery, machine tools and various hydraulic and pneumatic components. They can withstand fixed, reciprocating and rotating seals. O-type rubber seals account for more than 50% of mechanical product seals. According to needs, we can produce various special-purpose heat-resistant, low-temperature vacuum, high-pressure, sealing rings and special-shaped rubber sealing products for different media. O-ring (O-ring rubber seal) installation precautions 1.

Requirements for installing O-rings (O-rings) Before using O-rings (O-rings), check the following types:

1. Whether the lead-in angle is processed according to the drawing, and whether the sharp edge is chamfered or rounded;

2. Whether the burrs on the inner diameter have been removed;

3. Whether the seals and parts are wiped with grease or lubricant (ensure the compatibility of the elastomer medium and lubricate it with a closed liquid);

4. Grease containing solid additives, such as molybdenum disulfide, zinc sulfide, etc., must not be used.

2. Manually install the O-ring (O-ring rubber seal):

1. Use tools without sharp edges;

2. Ensure that the O-ring (O-type rubber sealing ring) is not distorted and do not overstretch the O-ring (O-type rubber sealing ring);

3. Try to use auxiliary tools to install the O-ring (O-type rubber seal) and ensure the correct positioning of the seal;

4. The O-ring (O-type rubber sealing ring) bonded with sealing strips must not be stretched at the joint.

3. Installation screws, splines, etc.

1. After the O-ring (O-ring rubber seal) is stretched, the mandrel must be installed through screws, splines, grooves, etc. The spindle can be made of soft, smooth metal or plastic, and the seal must not have burrs or sharp edges.

2. When installing the compression screws, the screws should be tightened symmetrically and not in directional order.
