What are the testing standards for rubber seals?

rubber seals

Rubber sealing rings are processed products in the machinery and equipment industry. Each industry has its own quality inspection standards to define whether the product meets the standards. Have you ever come across the testing standards for rubber seals? What are the appearance and quality inspection standards for rubber seals?

The appearance inspection specifications for O-ring rubber seals (referred to as O-rings) include the shape, characteristics and size of O-ring defects, and classify and specify surface defects.

1. O-ring rubber seal appearance quality inspection standard number: GB3452.2-87

2. Appearance quality inspection standard letter symbols represent:

●d1 represents: O-ring inner diameter.

●d2 represents: O-ring cross-sectional diameter.

●e stands for: shift specification.

●f represents: the convex edge and the extended height, the total width.

●I stands for: The total width of the edge holder is too large.

●g represents: the total width of mold shrinkage cracks.

●h represents: deep mold shrinkage cracking.

●j represents: the length of the flow mark (only along the circumferential direction).

●k represents: deep flow mark (only along the circumferential direction).

●l represents: the length and total width of the concave and convex defects.

●m represents: depth and height of concave and convex defects.

3. Appearance quality inspection standards and quality levels indicate:

●N level (general level): suitable for general purposes.

●S level (higher level): Suitable for applications with high requirements on the appearance quality of the sky and the earth.

●NZ level, SZ level (unique level): Select up to three defects in N level or S level, stipulating higher appearance quality requirements, called NZ level or SZ level, which should be agreed upon by both supply and demand parties.

4. Appearance Quality Inspection Standard Quality Appearance Quality

●Specifications:

The dimensions and tolerances of finished o-rings should comply with GB 3452.10 - "Hydraulic and Pneumatic O-ring Rubber Seal Dimension Series and Tolerances" or relevant national standards.

●General requirements:

O-rings are not allowed to have pores, cracks and bubbles; the surface should be smooth and clean, and surface defects should not exceed the specified limit.

●Surface defects:

The surface defect types and quality standards of O-rings should comply with the requirements in the table.

The main allowable limits for surface defects of O-type rubber sealing rings.
